Where Will I Find a Rubber Snake?

I gave much of this day to reading through the five Bible lessons for our Vacation Bible School, which begins in a month.  I lead the teaching time for the older children.  It helps to get a sense of preparation early because the lessons can be pretty involved.  So today I reflected on questions pastors seldom ask, like “Where will I find a rubber snake?”  This prop appears on Day 4 when we reenact Paul’s shipwreck on Malta in Acts 28.  If we can’t borrow one from a family in the church, we’ll have to make a trip to a hobby or toy store.

I think it’s possible to lengthen the list of things that fall into this odd category. Off the top of my head: lava lamps and swimming pools. Funny how they jump out in certain situations, though, when you haven’t thought about it before. (I hadn’t.)
